Diary of a New Mom and the song you must have on your playlist
January 31, 2019
Had the best dance party with Sebastian!
This happened right after we got home from going to a mommy and me class at the library, and running two errands. Yes, that was overly ambitious with an almost 6-week old baby. The car ride home reminded me of this. Baby boy began crying a few minutes from home. And when you’re driving those minutes feel like an eternity. I was also overdue to pump:( We were not happy campers. As soon as we got home I went to change Sebastian and told Alexa to play happy music, “O-O-H Child” came on and it was like a TV moment.
My whole vibe shifted, Sebastian’s vibe shifted. His shift was probably due to being changed and feeling mama come back to center back to peace, back to happy. And so instead of moving on to the next thing on my To Do list I came back to being present and picked up my son and danced it up with him. “Ooh child things are going to get easier, ooh child things’ll get brighter…” I was singing those lyrics for both myself and Sebastian. The gift is really in the present, being present. Inhale. Exhale. Breathe. What’s it like to be a new mom? At times it rocks me, frazzles me, brings worry and anxiety to a whole new level, also add in guilt, I feel guilt in almost every area AND at the same time being a new mom is the BEST MOST AMAZING thing in the world. Oh and the love, the love is like nothing in this planet. Sebastian, thank you for reminding me to be present, choosing me to be your mommy, and being the best son in the world. We are doing it my friend, little by little we are figuring it out, and we are doing it!
Parent Tip: Add this song to your playlist it’s a great tool to help shift you and a beautiful reminder that it’s all going to be okay. Little by little.
Sending you happy vibes! Nancy
