Show up. Show up for others. Show up for yourself.
Thursdays I teach “Mama and Me Meditation & Self-care Class” and I love it! Today I had one mommy and baby attend the class. I got a text as to whether class was going to be cancelled. For a moment I thought about it and then said No:) Let’s go, class is on! The truth is I too also need this class to breathe, connect, and meditate. This is an hour that I have in my calendar where I for sure meditate. And today I brought Sebastian with me. Full on mommy and me. I never had the intention of teaching or creating this class. It organically happened and I love it! So we showed up together. Two mamas, two babies, showing up for ourselves and our babies. In today’s class we discussed how challenging it can be to be present as a mom and how we can learn to be more present, more mindful. I went back to how at one point in our lives we didn’t know how to read. And how we had to practice, use our tools, and slowly but surely we learned how to read. The same with working out, or any other skill. It’s about practice, using tools to help, and more practice. The guided meditation that helped was to my favorite introduction song “Emancipation” by Helios. Focus on your breathing and the sounds you hear. A beautiful tool to help you come back to present is to focus on your breath and your 5 senses. It was a beautiful class. Where we got real and talked about using gratitude as a tool to alleviate anxiety. Practicing mindfulness, practicing gratitude are beautiful tools that help me be present, access peace, and also return to being present, return to peace. Moms – take a few minutes to breathe, to connect with yourself, and to practice gratitude. I am grateful that I kept my word of hosting the class, that I showed up, to the awesome mommy for showing up, to my son for bringing me back to the present, making me laugh, and laughing with me. Sebastian you are mi amor.
And I am grateful for this beautiful sign that I spotted on the walk home, “Don’t wait for magic. Make it” Yes folks, make your own magic.
Sending you all love, gratitude, and magic, Enjoy your present! Love, Nancy
